Marjorie McCartney
I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. In my late teens I was offered a place in art college but, for practical reasons I was unable to accept this place. But, Heigh Ho! Life had other plans for me.
I have been a teacher for most of my working life [ secondary ] and although I continued to dabble in a variety of mediums raising a family and work commitments prevented me from spending as much time as I would have liked on my favourite hobby.
Since retiring I have enrolled in a series of art classes and joined an art club. This has allowed me to explore many different mediums and methods which were unheard of when I was young. They have also given me ongoing encouragement and motivation as well as friendship for the last few years.
Although I am happy to paint with oils, acrylic and watercolours my preferred method is drawing in a variety of mediums – fine-liner pens, graphite and coloured pencil.
