Amelia Archer

Amelia is a portrait artist who maps out the life journeys of celebrated individuals, capturing the essence of their stories through the unique medium of maps. Ironically, while her artwork relies on maps, Amelia is hopeless at map-reading for navigational purposes—to get anywhere, she’s completely dependent on her satnav. Without it, who knows where in the world she’d end up! In her art, however, maps become a beautiful canvas for charting the paths of others. Each portrait is drawn digitally and then uses maps to create the contours and shading on the image.   They are a digital tapestry of significant places woven together from OS maps, revealing the milestones and moments that define a person’s life.

Amelia believes that each journey reflects the beauty and purpose imbued by God, a testament to the divine story within every life. Her art aspires to honour this glory, creating portraits that celebrate the intricate paths each soul has travelled.
